Originally a lustrous silk woven in Damascus; a reversible fabric of one or two colors in which figures are defined by the contrast of Weft and Warp faced satin. Weft: The threads drawn through the Warp on a shuttle to produce a woven fabric. Warp: A set of fixed threads set lengthwise on a loom. |
Sheers are fabrics that are translucent and have an airy, light feel to them. This fabric type makes a good overlay on top of solid color fabrics. Any very light-weight
fabric (e.g. chiffon, georgette, Voilé, sheer Crêpe).
Usually has an open weave, very thin; diaphanous. |
